Franne Golde

1. Who is Franne Golde? 

I am a mom, wife, caregiver, promoter and transmitter of love and kindness, and the CEO of frannegolde.com.  I am also a Grammy-nominated and award-winning songwriter whose songs have appeared on over 100 million records sold worldwide. After thirty-five years of writing songs, I pivoted and launched my own clothing line, Franne Golde, which has become known for creating the perfect black pant.

2. How do you define fashion and or style?

Pieces that are comfortable and make you feel your best. Many people have a signature piece they wear: a hat, a scarf, or a piece of jewelry. They have their own unmistakable look. Fashion and style can truly be anything. As there is no limit to the imagination, there is no limit to fashion and style.

3. What influences your style? ie travel, work, movies, magazines, social media trends, celebrities, color, etc.

It could be one or any number of the above, or just my imagination. That said, my clothes must be comfortable and flattering, look effortless, and make me feel great. It’s like when you listen to a song that you love. It makes you feel good, it touches something deep inside you, it sounds effortless, and it’s easy to sing along with. Clothes can do that—and should!

4. How has your style evolved?

When I was younger, I followed trends more than I do now. I don’t know that I ever had a particular style. I was always experimenting with scissors and thread. Now I have my uniform and embellish it with different pieces to change it up. But I love a great basic!

5. What does your dream wardrobe consist of? 

Everything in my brand is my dream wardrobe. I’ve created all the essentials that I need, love, and want. Whatever else I still want, I spend days, weeks, and months finding and curating into my collection, not only for me but also for my customer. I want her to have it all!

6. If you were to give fashion advice to your younger self what would it be?

Have fun, experiment, and don’t save anything for a special occasion. Wear it now!

7. How important is it to be body positive and to appreciate the skin that you're in?

My whole brand is about body positivity. I’ve always been about accentuating the positive. Being comfortable, feeling good about yourself, feeling empowered, wearing figure-flattering clothes that work with your body so you can take on the day feeling like you own it – that’s always my goal.

8. What do you love about jewelry?  What is your absolute favorite is it earrings, necklaces, etc.

I go through phases. I have pierced ears but barely wear earrings anymore. I’ve never been a watch, bracelet, or ring person, probably because I played the piano. But I love necklaces! I usually wear three or four together. I have a lot of favorites and one, a small moonstone with diamonds, that I never take off.

9. How do you incorporate accessories and jewelry into your daily looks? 

I go through my necklaces and see what looks best and what feels good. Other than that, I love a perfect, easy, grab-and-go bag, and I’m working on designing one right now.

10. What are your non-negotiables...? What must you have / wear / do?  and what are your, “I’m never ever doing or wearing that”?

I must have great black pants and a great top, the basics. And I’ve created that! As far as “never wearing that,” I never say never. If you would have told me as a young songwriter that I’d have my own clothing brand I would have thought, Sounds good, but no way. Yet here I am.

11. Tell us why you choose fashion and style. So what we mean by that is, we don’t have to dress up, we don’t have to adorn ourselves with jewels and embellish with accessories, but we do, we choose to… why do you?

I think people like to create their own look and show their individuality with clothes and accessories that make them feel good and unique. We all know someone who has a specific look and is always recognizable in a crowd. Most of the time you need a canvas to start with in order to create that signature style. I believe we’ve created that canvas and then some!
