1. Who is Jennifer Love?
I am the Founder/CEO and Designer of Bodylicious Couture, a high fashion women’s clothing brand based in Augusta, GA. I wanted to create a women’s clothing brand that was dedicated to taking women throughout their day and empowering them to love the skin that they are in. Using colors and textures that bring out the skin tones and curves of every woman.
I love having the freedom to be creative, and with my passion for fashion got a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Georgia Southern and a Master’s in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. I work as a social media manager at a news station, while still managing my clothing brand. I am focusing on building my brand to be a household name next to the major designers.
2. How do you define fashion and or style?
Fashion to me is defined as not just clothing or accessories, it is a lifestyle. It's an expression of showing the world who we are. A mindset of a mood, feeling, and vibe!
3. What influences your style? ie travel, work, movies, magazines, social media trends, celebrities, color, etc.
My style was influenced and started when I was a little girl living overseas. The way women dressed in London, Paris, Kenya, and here in the USA, inspired me. To see the way clothes gave women confidence and gave them a feeling of power. That is what drives me to design for my own clothing brand.
4. How has your style evolved?
My style has not evolved too much. It is still casual, but now as I get older, I love to add more edgy, bold, and sexy appeal to my outfits, feeling feminine and confident in who I am. My style has come a long way from jeans and a t-shirt. I enjoy my heels, boots, and the accent of my jewelry to take my style up a notch.
5. What does your dream wardrobe consist of?
My dream wardrobe has versatile looks. From my clothing brand Bodylicious Couture in the Rebel Capsule Collection, the ‘J Love’ dress is a need. It transitions into a crop top and mini skirt. Also, a sexy pair of heels or in the winter thigh high boots, hoop earrings, and a faux fur coat are must-haves which I can style in multiple ways.
6. If you were to give fashion advice to your younger self what would it be?
Have more fun. I was such a tomboy; all I wanted to wear was jeans and a t-shirt. I would actually show my younger self, to love the skin we are in and embrace our curves. To enjoy the freedom of fashion and know that a great pair of jeans and a fun edgy top will definitely make me stand out.
7. How important is it to be body positive and to appreciate the skin that you're in?
That is very important to me personally and for my clothing brand. Each piece is designed for women who have inspired me and to help other women feel sexy and empowered. To know that I can help a women feel comfortable in her skin makes my work worthwhile.
Loving my body and skin took me years, but now I feel like I am unstoppable and the woman I see in the mirror is such a Queen. I love what I have accomplished and what I have done since 2018 when I started my clothing brand. I feel this is my true purpose!
8. What do you love about jewelry? What is your absolute favorite is it earrings, necklaces, etc.
I love how jewelry is like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae. A look is not complete without it. Jewelry to me brings a look together. My favorite is earrings; I have so many I can’t count. I put on a pair of hoops or butterfly earrings, and I am ready to show the world who I am.
9. How do you incorporate accessories and jewelry into your daily looks?
For one, I do not leave my house without wearing my butterfly earrings. Everyone knows me for wearing butterflies. No matter if it is gold or sliver, I am rocking a pair of earrings and sometimes bracelets in my looks.
10. What are your non-negotiables... What must you have / wear / do? and what are your, “I’m never ever doing or wearing that”?
My must have non-negotiables are a pair of jeans, a little black dress (every women needs one,) and a great pair of fun, sexy heels. I feel that these pieces can go from casual to sexy no matter how you style them. Honestly they are in every woman around the worlds closet.
The one thing I am never wearing are crocs, I draw the line somewhere.
11. Tell us why you choose fashion and style. So what we mean by that is, we don’t have to dress up, we don’t have to adorn ourselves with jewels and embellish with accessories, but we do, we choose to… why do you?
The reason is because at the end of the day, fashion is part of our life. We see it and are part of the trends that stay and leave, but I wanted to create a women's clothing brand that will stand the test of time. Bodylicious Couture is season-less, meaning that you can rock each piece weather it is spring, summer, fall, or winter.
I also do it to leave my footprint and story in the world beyond just me; making history as time goes by in this journey we call life. I come from a long line of history makers, and I plan to continue to leave a legacy for people to be reading and learning about for many years to come.
12. What’s your favorite fashion/style quote or mantra?My favorite fashion quote is by Coco Chanel, “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” The second one is the quote from my brand Bodylicious Couture, “Versatility, design with endless possibilities.” These are quotes I live by.
